Having only begun in 2010, London’s bike share program has trudged through controversy to seriously improve the standard of living in the center of town. The original fleet of bikes were riddled with glitches and were quite heavy, so naturally the critics took notice. But as the program has grown, Londoners now use the 11,000 bikes in rotation with affection. And motorists too—studies show that cars are less likely to hit a cyclist who is riding the signature blue bike!
