6. Upper Peninsula, Michigan
Finally getting out of the Northeastern United States, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is no slouch when it comes to fall foliage. For those that aren’t familiar with the geography, the Upper Peninsula is the part of Michigan that doesn’t look like a mitten, just south of Canada and west of the Great Lakes.
The best time to catch the autumn light show is somewhere between the last two weeks of September and the first two weeks of October. The best way to anticipate this change for any given year is to just watch the weather reports, because cooler weather ushers these changes in earlier.
