If you don’t know the history of the Rhodesian Ridgeback we’ll fill you in. This breed was created specifically for hunting lions. They’re big, strong, fearless and incredibly loyal. If you’re going to be going on rural hikes, well off of the beaten path, there aren’t many dogs we’d rather have by our side that a Ridgeback. We can’t say one dog will be able to take down a cougar or bear if they met face to face, but he’d do his best to make sure you and your hiking pals are out of harm’s way.
