16 Extreme Places People Actually Live
Tristan da Cunha
You might want to bring your own internet connection.
Found in the southernmost part of the Atlantic Ocean, Tristan da Cunha is the most isolated archipelago in the world. It’s hard to imagine, but these islands are more than 2,000 kilometers from the nearest continent, which makes them almost impossible to access. But don’t worry- you won’t be traveling there any time soon. Without an airplane landing strip, Tristan da Cunha is reachable by boat only.
The locals, consisting of only 80 families, live life by fishing and farming. The families own their own livestock, but the entire island is municipally owned, which makes it impossible to move there. You might not want to anyway- they only received television service in 2001!
