24 Stunning Places That Climate Change Is Destroying For Future Generations
Maldives
The Maldives is considered one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the world, famed for its romantic dock bungalows. It’s no surprise newlyweds flock to the tropical getaway with its crystal blue waters and white sand beaches. A total of 1,190 islands make up the Maldives, but in the near future there may not even be one of these islands. The Maldives is the lowest lying country in the world and its location in the Indian Ocean is inconvenient. In one hundred years the Maldives, which has an average height of four feet above sea level, will be completely submerged underwater. Entire communities have already had to relocate as a result of rising sea levels, and a third of the country has experienced severe erosion.
