By Mandy Burkholder |
New York City, U.S.
New York City is host to the largest bike sharing program in the United States. Amazingly enough, the program was privately funded and took no government subsidies. This has led to the impeccable quality of bikes, but has also contributed to the inflated price of riding them. Perhaps by 2017, when the program hopes to reach 12,000 bicycles in rotation, the price will become more affordable for daily users.
