Adding dried fruit

Dried cranberries, blueberries or cherries taste wonderful on fresh greens, but check out the calorie count and sugar quantity before tossing them in your salad. Most brands of dried fruit have high amounts of added sugar, and sugars mean both carbs and calories.

Many brands and producers are starting to roll out no sugar added dried fruits, and these are all significantly healthier for you than the super sweet morsels we all crave. You can also add a small amount of fresh grapes, sliced strawberries or diced apples.
